Two Trailers, Two Techs: Splitting the Day in the Bin Cleaning App

The jump from one trailer to two is the biggest change most bin cleaning companies go through. With one trailer, the owner holds the whole route in their head. With two, there are two routes, two techs and twice as many chances for a stop to fall through the cracks. The tech app is what keeps that jump from turning into chaos.

New Addresses Keep Coming

Every new customer gets a careful first visit, as in The First Cleaning at a New Address: What the Tech Checks in the App. Eventually there are enough of them that one trailer cannot keep up. The Waiting List starts showing overdue pins. The owner is washing cans until dark. That is the sign it is time for a second trailer.

Set Up Trailers and Techs

In the office, add each trailer or truck and assign a tech to it. Every tech gets their own personal PIN. When they log in on their phone, they see only the stops assigned to them for the day.

There is no per-user charge, so adding the second tech does not change the software bill. Plans are $59, $89 and $199 a month, never billed per user, which matters a lot at exactly this stage, when the second trailer is already a big expense.

Splitting the Stops

There are a few common ways to divide the day:

Most companies settle on area, adjusted by trash day. Whatever you choose, keep it consistent so each tech learns their neighborhoods.

Building Two Routes on One Board

The dispatch board shows stops by day and can be filtered by trailer or truck. The office assigns stops from the Waiting List to each trailer, then filters to Trailer 1 and auto-routes it, then filters to Trailer 2 and does the same. Closest First or Furthest First from the shop, adjusted by hand where needed.

Each tech's phone shows their own route in that order. Neither has to know what the other is doing, though both can be seen on the office map through crew GPS. The order on the phone works the same way as with one trailer, as covered in The Bin Cleaning Tech's Day in Route Order: Working the Stop List Top to Bottom.

Moving Stops During the Day

Two trailers give you flexibility one trailer never had. If Trailer 1 gets slowed down by a run of backyard cans, the office can move a few of its last stops to Trailer 2 on the dispatch board. Trailer 2's list updates. The customer's texts and live map follow the stop.

Same for same-day adds. A new sign-up or a skipped customer whose cans are back out goes to whichever trailer is closer, which crew GPS shows at a glance.

Keeping Both Techs Consistent

The risk with two techs is two ways of doing things. One leaves lids open, the other closes them. One takes great photos, the other forgets. Customers notice when the service changes depending on who shows up.

The app helps here. Both techs see the same notes on every address, follow the same Start, photo, Complete rhythm and leave the same record. Review both techs' after photos during the first few weeks. Differences show quickly, and a short conversation fixes them.

The Owner's New Job

With two trailers, the owner's job starts shifting from washing cans to running the business. Building routes, answering customers, signing up HOAs, handling skips. The tech app makes that possible because the owner can see both routes, both techs and every completed stop without being on either trailer.

Some owners keep running a trailer for a while. Others step off and let two techs run the routes. Either way, the office side of TrashCanBossPro and the tech app give the owner the view they need.

Two Routes, One System

The second trailer doubles your capacity. The tech app makes sure it does not double your headaches: separate routes on separate phones, one dispatch board, one map, one record. For everything else the tech app does, go back to the TrashCanBossPro trash can cleaning app page.

Add a Second Trailer Without the Chaos

TrashCanBossPro filters the dispatch board by trailer and shows each tech their own route, never billed per user.
