Scheduling the First Bin Cleaning Around the Customer's Trash Day

A sign-up is a promise. The first cleaning is where you keep it. Get it on the right day, with the right cans, at the right house, and the customer settles in for months. Show up when the cans are still full, or a week later than they expected, and you start the relationship by apologizing.

From Signed Up to Scheduled

Reviews from Asking for Reviews That Turn Into Bin Cleaning Bookings help bring people to the form. Once they sign up and you convert them into a client, the next job is the first cleaning.

In TrashCanBossPro, the client's address already carries the number of trash, recycling and yard waste cans and the city trash pickup day, straight from the sign-up. That is everything you need to choose the date.

The Rule: Right After Pickup

Cans get cleaned empty. That means the best time is right after the city empties them: later on trash day once the trucks have come through, or the next day. Before trash day the can is full. Several days after, it is filling up again.

So if a customer's trash day is Tuesday, their first cleaning goes on the route that runs Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. If you already have customers on that street with the same trash day, the new customer joins that route as one more stop.

The reasoning behind asking for trash day at all is in Asking for Trash Day at Sign-Up: The Question That Sets the Whole Trash Can Cleaning Schedule.

Fit It Onto a Route You Already Run

The cheapest first cleaning is one that adds a stop to a trailer that is already in the neighborhood. Before you pick a date, look at where the new client sits on the Waiting List map and which routes already run nearby.

On the Scheduled List, jobs show by day and you can filter by trailer or truck, so you can see how full each day is before you add another stop.

Don't Make Them Wait Too Long

Someone who signed up on a Sunday night is expecting clean cans soon. If their trash day is Tuesday and your route there runs Wednesday, great. If the next route on their street is ten days away, consider whether a one-off stop is worth it to start the customer off well. Waiting a long time for a first visit is when people start to wonder if they made a mistake.

Either way, tell them the date. A clear "Your first cleaning is Wednesday the 14th" is much better than "we'll be out soon."

Set Up the Plan at the Same Time

Recurring plans in TrashCanBossPro are set by minimum days between visits: 7 for weekly, 14 for every other week, 28 for monthly. Once the first cleaning is complete, the next one comes due on the Waiting List on its own. Pins are colored by status, not due yet, due now, and overdue past a 7-day grace, so nothing slips.

Set the plan when you schedule the first cleaning. Then the customer is on autopilot from the start, and you never have to remember to book visit number two.

Make the First Visit Go Right

The tech's phone shows the job in route order with the cans and can location on the card: "2 trash · 1 recycling · Trash day Tue," plus notes like "side of garage, gate code 4512." A few habits help the first visit go well:

The Short Version

Schedule the first cleaning right after pickup, on a route already in the neighborhood, soon after the sign-up, with the plan set at the same time. For the rest of the booking tools, visit the TrashCanBossPro bin cleaning booking software page.
